Here's another peacock feather photo from another angle. I attached my handy 5x Jeweler's Loupe to the end of my DSC-H55 and snapped this under the sunlight outside. This is just at the edge eyespot at the "top" of the eyespot area. It's centered on the middle of the feather, so you get the series of chevrons, known as quillions. If I could get deeper magnification (maybe my 10X loupe?) and a steadier platform (all by hand, no tripod) I could show you how, at those quillions, they separate again in almost the same way as the central split of the feather.
