Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Cherry Lake, Altona - one of my absolute favourite places in Melbourne, Australia.

Time

It was a stunning Sunset that left me speechless! I was in Awe.

Lighting

I'm still learning about lighting, but just love using Expos. Bracketing (-1/3) & Expos. Compensation (-1/3). The Sun was quickly fading so I was running out of time to capture these precious moments.

Equipment

My first DSLR, a Canon EOS 600D with an EF-S18-55mm f1/3.5-5.6 IS II lens and Me.

Inspiration

The reflections were Amazing! I couldn't believe my luck when I saw this Magical Sunset. I Felt very blessed indeed.

Editing

Only a small amount of cropping for this photo. I challenge myself to get the best picture at the time of shooting, and pride myself on this fact as photography is where my extreme passion lies. I am not as keen on the post processing side.

In my camera bag

My trusty Canon 600D, EF-S18-55mm f1/3.5-5.6 IS II, EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II and my Manfrotto Tripod.

Feedback

There is nothing worse than taking 1 photo of every scene only to realise later the Exposure was all wrong. Exposure Bracketing is a technique used to take 3 photos of the same scene at different exposures. This way I get 3 chances to get it right and find that usually at least 1 is a keeper. My best advice would be Have Fun!
