The photo was taken about 10:00 am or so, any later in the day and the Arizona Sun simply washes out your photos.Lighting
I wanted the image to be bright but not overpoweringly so.Equipment
This was shot with my older Nikon D200 and a 50mm f1.5 prime lens. The shot was handheld inasmuch as we were moving about the park for a variety of different shots. I did use a gold reflector just off to the left of the frame to give it that warm feeling.Inspiration
I have shot this particular bench on numerous occasions and the "happiness" portion of the bench works well with the model. This happens to be my favorite result of shots taken on this bench.Editing
There was very little post processing in photoshop, a crop, some level adjustments and a slight adjustment to saturation. I wanted the image to reflect the natural beauty of the model and not a whole bunch of post processing, so I kept it simple.In my camera bag
My Bag varies depending on the shoot but I normally have my 50mm, 35mm and my 50-500mm The 50 and 35mm lenses are Nikon prime lenses and the 50-500 is a sigma f/4 to f/6.3 lens that I have even been known to use in the studio. I love the depth of field I get out of all three lenses. I have many other lenses but I find myself reaching for one of those three on a regular basis. I shoot two different Bodies, I have the Nikon D200 that I still like for studio work and the D7000 that I shoot almost everything else with.Feedback
Sure I have recreated this shot many times and the one thing I can say is to take your time. Frame up your shot and don't be in a hurry. Have a model that is going to be patient while you get the exact look you are going for. If you are rushed or the model is in a hurry you will convey that in your shots and the shots will end up looking like a family snapshot rather than a special photo.
