This is my first attempt at taking a picture of such a small creature on a flower. Though the flower is breathtaking, the ant steals the limelight by standing right in the middle of the image.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken and the flower found in one of Chesapeake, Virginia's woodland residences, under the protection of it's many trees.

Time

It was early morning and the sun had begun to rise over the trees, creating even lighting for this image's flower.

Lighting

This photo was taken in natural, even lighting.

Equipment

This photo was shot using a Nikon D3200, 55mm lens.

Inspiration

I love close up images because they reveal just how grand even the smallest creature can be in their natural environment. Ants are marvelous and courageous insects, and they are big on community. I admire how hardworking they are, and that's why I took this picture of ants at work.

Editing

I used Adobe Bridge Camera Raw editing software to edit this photo. First, I brightened the image. Second, I brought up the contrast. Third, I made it just a little bit more vibrant, but not too much as it would ruin the natural coloring of the Lily.

In my camera bag

I have my different lenses with me, an external flash, and a tripod. :)

Feedback

Look for the big moments in the little things of life.
