What a dynamic photograph! The dead tree has taken on a life of it's own and appears to be running away from the Milky Way(?)behind it.The composition, the lighting, and the complementary colors all add up in this work. Great job, Michael!

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in the ancient bristle cone pine forest near Bishop, California.

Time

The image is a composite. The tree was taken during the day and the sky is during the night.

Lighting

Creating a composite allows you to manipulate the lighting.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D90. For the sky portion I was set up on a tripod.

Inspiration

It's eye-catching. People like that. I like to create images that people like.

Editing

Yes. Again, it is a composite image of the tree and the sky, though I try to keep composites realistic.

In my camera bag

I am now using a Nikon D7000 with an 18-140. I have a dolica tripod and a remote for night shooting.

Feedback

It's summer. The milky way is out in the northern hemisphere. Go experiment!
