Beautiful shot! It was among my favorites in the challenge that I created (Leaves). Thanks so much for participating!

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Loon Lake, just east of Reedsport, Oregon

Time

I took about a half-hour before noon.

Lighting

Noon is not the best time to take photos but the blue sky reflections added a nice contrast to the autumn colors of the leaves.

Equipment

I used a Canon PowerShot SX230 HS point and shoot digital camera, hand-held with no flash.

Inspiration

The colors and shapes looked so nice lining the shore and blue sky reflections just completed the scene.

Editing

I adjusted contrast and highlights only.

In my camera bag

I ALWAYS have at least one camera with me, along with spare batteries, an extra memory card (as if 64mg isn't enough) and a microfiber lens cloth. If I don't have a tripod with me, I always find something to set the camera on and use the timer.

Feedback

Look at everything around you, 360° plus up and down. I was shooting the opposite shore of the lake and thankfully thought to look down at my feet and there were all the beautiful fall leaves begging to have their portrait taken!
