This was taken on the beach in Winchester Bay, Oregon during passing thunderstorms. Inclement weather rarely keeps an Oregonian in the house!Time
This was in the early afternoon as I was trying to capture any rainbows that might pop up around me.Lighting
Natural lighting is just about the only source I use other than an occasional use of my camera's built-in flash.Equipment
My current, and so far favorite, camera is the bridge camera Canon Powershot SX50 HS. Most of my beach shots are hand-held and with a 200x total zoom, I can switch from landscape to macro and back again in just seconds. This helps when a raptor flies by while I'm shooting distance shots like this one.Inspiration
The hail and rain falling from the distant clouds along with the person and her reflection on the wet beach gave me a feeling of her isolation.Editing
On this particular photo, I brought it up in Photoshop and hit Auto Tone. This was the result and I liked it and kept it.In my camera bag
My camera, extra battery, extra memory card, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and a flash diffuser. My tripod is always on my back seat.Feedback
I took photos of this gal coming towards me, silhouetted against the ocean and sky as she passed, and this one as she walked away. Take a lot of photos of anything that your eye spots and you think would make a good composition. I normally take 300+ photos every time I go out shooting.
