This is Sossusvlei in Namibia, a magical place where the desert scored a victory over the trees many centuries back. The heat and dryness of the Namib has preserved the dead tree in the foregound for hundreds of years.

The ever shifting red dunes refuse to bury the dead. The lonely tree remains upright and proud even in death ... these were my thoughts as I clicked this picture!
