A beautiful shot. I love the whole feel and mood of the shot. Great muted colours.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this Photo on my travels around Canada, I am a self taught Landscape and Portrait Photographer.

Time

My husband and myself were traveling around Canada in a hire car, It was early morning. As were heading back to Vancouver we came across this beautiful lake which I caught on the side of my eyes, I told my husband to stop immediately, he didn't know what I saw, but I knew that this was going to be a great shot. I just loved the stillness of the water, the unusual looking fishing boat, the mist and fog sitting on the water and the hazy mountains in the background. I just loved the feeling that this shot gave me.

Lighting

It was a good time of the day so the lighting was perfect, and the water was still. it was just the perfect misty scene.

Equipment

I used my Canon 5D Mark II, with a focal length of 70, exposure 1/50 at F9.1. Lense 24-70mm L Series.

Inspiration

It was just one of these moments when you don't expect it, I love these moments, its so much fun and exciting. Nothing is planed , but when traveling I always have my camera sitting on my lap, I take it everywhere, because you just don't know when your going to come across something worth capturing. Thats what its all about Capturing the Moment.

Editing

I did a little bit of post-processing using Lightroom. I added a little Dodge and Burn on the clouds and that is about it. I try not to use a lot of post processing I like my shots to be as natural as possible.

In my camera bag

When I'm traveling I try not to take too much as it can get very heavy, but I'm a women so this is very hard for me. I have my Canon 5D Mark II and I also take my Canon 40D as back up. I always take a backup camera because when I was traveling around Europe my first Camera locked up and I could not get it to work, so for half of my trip I had to use my small automatic camera. So I said this was never going to happen to me again, so I always carry two cameras. The lenses I carry are 24-70mm f/4.1L, Canon 17-40mm f/4L and my canon 70-200mm f/2.1L IS II. I also carry my tripod which is a Vanguard Alta Series 70.

Feedback

All I can say is keep your eyes open and be aware of what is around you. Stop and capture the moment, don't let these pass by you. Make sure when capturing these shots the lighting is right Early Morning is fantastic and the evening.
