Location
This particular photo was taken in our backyard in West Texas - not your manicured 'everything in its place' backyard, just your standard working class 'man I need to mow the lawn' type of place :) the backdrop is the weathered unfinished wood side of a modified standalone carport.Time
It was early afternoon, lightly cloudy and semi-breezy spring day.Lighting
The best lighting that day was residual soft-light patches coming in at an angle through the patchy light cloud cover. It was definitely a spur of the moment type of catch, since it kept changing by the minute.Equipment
Camera: Canon EOS 7D Lens: Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Aperture: f/2.8 ISO: 640 Exposure: 1/800 hand held, no flash, no tripod.Inspiration
My love for photography began with the Love of my Life - my wife. It was my constant desire to show her how beautiful she was to me via photography.... this only increased as we had children - the model in this photo being our first child. Watching her little fingers reach out and kiss the soft first blossoms on this little peach tree in our back yard, while she herself was not far removed as the that tiny 'blossom' of our love - I couldn't help but keep trying to make this shot happen. this one was the result of many more attempts before and after. :) The blossom falling at her tough was a reminder that these moments are precious and unique...and they pass all too soon.Editing
Post-processed using some CC Photoshop and Lightroom to our personal taste. In my camera bag
Canon 7D, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, Canon - EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, 'Nifty 50', extra battery, speedlite, cleaning pens, extra memory, and a good bag that can take a bit of soft rain just in case.Feedback
This is coming from someone that is still an amateur like myself - Get comfortable with your gear. There is nothing more disappointing than seeing a once in a lifetime shot pass before you while the gear is holding you back due to simply not having enough practice. That one aspect of photography is a near the top of what has been my driving force for a few years now, and its caused me to work harder on my technique. Do this to the point that using the gear is as close to second nature as possible. This way the Love for photography and the desire to be seen through those inner eyes, can truly be set free. After all - that is actually the number one reason why I do this - for Love. When a picture matches your heart's 'eye' - and then manages to show you something more after the capture - that's priceless.
