This photo was taken at the shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, the saint in Bhit Shah, Interior Sindh, PakistanTime
It was mid-day. The light was harsh. Luckily the old man was sitting in a shade.Lighting
I wanted to capture the contrast and distinct wrinkles, the light was harsh elsewhere but this guy was in the shade so the nearby wall was nicely lit and reflected a soft glow around.Equipment
It was a NIKON D200 with an 18-200 (1/200 sec at f/5) no flash was fired.Inspiration
A lot of people visit the shrine hoping their faith would bring them good luck, happiness, success and content at heart in their, otherwise, troubled lives. The look on his face and the wrinkles intrigued me to capture him. There was something captivating about his eyes that drew my attention in the first place.Editing
Post processed in monotone b/w and did a little sharpness to enhance the wrinkles. In my camera bag
I usually have a Canon and a 17-50mm f/2.8 and a 70-400mm f/4 on me when I'm moving around in the streets. I also carry a 50mm f/1.8Feedback
Engage with the subject. I bad to ask him, “Baba (old man) can I take your photograph?” a slight nod. I clicked away and showed him some shots. Indifferent as he was, a sublime smile slipped out of his lips and faded. Then I clicked this one and a couple more.
