Location
I took this photo in my back yard in Milltown, New Brunswick. It was early spring, April I think and this little man was sitting so proud I just had to take his picture.Time
It was early in the day around 8:30 or 9 am I think.Lighting
It was early in the day so the lighting was perfect. It was the `golden hour` so to speak.Equipment
This was a no muss no fuss kinda shot. It was taken with my Sony A65, with my 18-250mm zoom lens. It was a quick grab your camera and shoot kind of shot. No tripod, no flash, no filter. I even kept the post processing down to a minimum as I just felt the shot didn`t require a lot of post.Inspiration
The way he was sitting in the morning sun, looking off into the day with contemplation. I just felt he was sitting there taking it all in and enjoying the warmth of the early day sun. It spoke to me of how we could learn a lesson from this little bird to just stop and enjoy the little things.Editing
I did very little post on this picture. I cropped it, and had to correct my white balance as I wasn`t happy with the color as I had the camera in auto. I also sharpened it a bit to bring out his feathers. That was it. I don`t like to over process a photo. I try to get it right in the camera. In my camera bag
My bag is pretty basic as I am just an armature. In addition to my camera, I keep my 3 favorite lens in there a 18-250 zoom, a 50mm prime and a 35mm prime. I also have a flash, spare batteries, cleaning kit, extra sd cards and a pen and paper to take notes of anything I find, addresses, ideas, etc. I am a very simple photographer who travels light as I love to take my camera everywhere, hiking, kayaking, out for a drive. I don`t like carrying a lot of equipment and rely on my technical knowledge verse tons of gear.Feedback
Patience is the most important thing. I also tell people that in the digital world, if it is worth taking a picture of take 10. This will ensure at least one good shot, especially important when shooting children or animals as they don`t like to hold still and pose. The like to take photos of whatever inspires me, I don`t typically plan my shots. I carry my camera with at all times and when I see something I like I shoot it.
