Location
Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. This was at the Governor's Palace gardens. Colonial Williamsburg has a lot of areas through out the property for great photos.Time
This was taken around 11am in the morning during spring time. I captured this same photo different times of the day and different seasons. This one is my favorite with all the colors of nature.Lighting
Sun is your best friend when it comes to natural lighting but the time of day can ruin the photo. I try to use shadows as a way to bring the down the brightness of the light. I also try taking the same photo at different times of the day. The light will always be different if taken at 11 am from 6pm.Equipment
This is shot with My Nikon D5000 with 18 -55 mm lens. I was just holding my camera with my hands and leaning against a brick column for support.Inspiration
I believe I have taken about 10 shots at different times of the day. When comparing the shots, I like this one the most because it showed what I was trying to achieve. My achievement for this photo is exactly what you see. A calm, peaceful, and beautiful place where the lighting is the not the highlight but the accent to the nature of the plants. The sun creates a beautiful layout by peaking through the branches.I also like the way the branches create a sense of privacy.Editing
The only post-processing I did was to darken the brightness and lighten the contrast. I try not to do any post-processing to the photo in the sense of photoshop. I try to keep the image as you see it.In my camera bag
I always carry both my Nikon D5000 and D50 with two different lens (18-55mm and 55-200mm). I always bring multi SD cards and batteries just in case. I also bring Sony Point and Shoot camera for back up.Feedback
Timing can be everything but timing can ruin everything. Take multi shots of an area, as many times as you want. There is always a picture that captures exactly what your looking for. Another example is watching an event that your taking pictures for. Someone does something amazing and because you hesitated; you lost that shot.
