This photo was captured outside London, England many years ago. The name of the town escapes me now.Time
It was early in the morning. I travelled internationally and and sleep alluded me this day. I got up before sunrise to see the countryside behind our hotel.Lighting
I was moved by the dense fog and within moments it started to burn off rapidly. The sun was just coloring the sky.Equipment
I was using my first digital camera, a Canon Powershot G-5. I liked the camera as it had articulating display and I knew nothing of the digital world of photography. I hadn't even studied the manual when this picture was taken.Inspiration
When I first started on my walk on this day, it was quite dark but the town lights and the very beginning of sunrise interested me. I was actually surprised to see there were animals in the meadow. They were less surprised than I. I live in the desert so this intense green pasture lured me deeper into the scenery. I came around an old wall I could not pass up this stunning moment.Editing
I used a minimum of post-processing as I did not have any training or experience at this time in my life. I believed I used an early version of Aperture.In my camera bag
Today I carry two cameras. I use a Canon T3i for every day use and keep it with me everywhere I go. When I go out on purpose to shoot nature I take my Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I have the trilogy of lenses.Feedback
What I have found most important is having the camera ready all the time. Moments like these are fleeting and one doesn't want to have to run back to the room or car and miss certain timing. I am 62 years old and have been shooting film and digital for almost 50 years. Last year I took two photo classes in college and this is after last taking a photo class in 1971! I am always learning and experimenting with new ways to capture time in photos. Tutorials on the net are a great way to get inspired to go out a do some fun work with the camera.
