Location
This photo was taken outside my home in Waldorf, MD. After playing with a few settings and my position, this was the shot I got. I was pretty happy with it.Time
It was late in the evening, it was cold...and I didnt care. The snow was just too beautiful not to try and photograph. The tree held on to each snowflake as it fell and made the perfect scene.Lighting
I ended up needing everything to be as dark as possible. Which, by the way, isnt too easy where I live. So I improvised. I turned off all the lights I could and set my flash up just a little. It turned out perfectly!Equipment
Canon 60D with a flash.Inspiration
I remember thinking how pretty the snow was and when I saw the tree gathering all the snow like it belonged together, I had to take this picture. I think I took at least 10 shots just to make sure I got the right one.Editing
This tree is positioned right over my car, so I cropped the bottom just a little to try to eliminate as much of the car as I could. In my camera bag
All of it! My 60D, my wide angle lens and my 18-55 and 80-300 lens, external flash and slave, filters and cleaning cloths. My tripod goes everywhere with me as well.Feedback
Honestly, my best advice...feel it. If something like this speaks to you, take as many pictures as you can from many different angles. You want feeling in photos. If you, as the photographer feels something for the photo you are taking, there is a good chance that feeling comes through in the photo itself.
