Thankyou. It's actually my father in law. One of the many long suffering models for my photo a day project :)

Location
In a pub car park, after lunch.Time
The worst time of day to take photos, the middle of the day. The sun was high, the shadows were harsh. I was living on the edge ;)Lighting
Don't do what I did.Equipment
My standard set-up back then, Canon 400D and a 50mm f1.8.Inspiration
I was doing a 365 project. My self imposed rules were that I had to take a photo a day, edit it and upload it, all on the same day. I knew I had plans in the evening, so I'd been trying to get a shot that would work for me all morning. I'd just gone out to lunch with my father in law, and he'd been my model for my daily shot before, so I asked him to pose again, but said 'Look a bit mean this time'. I think he did a good job!Editing
Not as much as you might think. Mainly Tonal contrast in Nik ColorEfex, b/w conversion, and then a bit of dodging and burning. Mainly burning. In my camera bag
Back then, Canon 400d with 50mm f1.8 lens. Now, Canon 6D with 50mm f1.4 lens.Feedback
People are very, very adaptable. One model can give you so many different personalities. Try to play people against type. Get your lovely, kind grandma to shout and scream at you. You'll be surprised at the results.
