I only discovered two days ago that here, in my hometown Belfast, had started to do this. You write a small message or the name of you and your partner or your friends name-s. You lock the lock through the railings of a bridge then throw the key over the side into the water... making it so that it can 'never be unlocked or broken'. It's a lovely idea that I have seen images of from all of the world and I'm just glad that it happens here too.
