I took this photo at the Los Angeles Arboretum

Lighting

I worked with natural morning light. I rarely work with a flash outdoors.

Equipment

I used a Canon 7D, Canon 10mm Lens, Manfroto Monopod

Inspiration

I entered the arboretum with my 100mm lens on my camera with the intent on doing some macro work when this beautiful male peacock decided to flaunt his colors right in front of me. I immediately sat down on the ground and began a photo study of this beauty.

Editing

I rarely go over the top with my editing. For this photo I used Camera Raw and Nik Viveza

In my camera bag

In my bag I have a Canon 70-300mm, Canon 28-135mm and my Canon 100mm, cable release, filters, extra battery and memory cards.

Feedback

The only advice I can give that works for me is to get to know how to work with a lens for a variety of subjects and compositions. I often work with just one lens for an entire day of photography, this forces me to be creative and come up with other than usual compositions that I would not normally think of. Helps to keep the creative juices flowing.
