This photo was taken in my kitchen, I am a self taught photographer and when this photo was taken I was experimenting with macro photography, concentrating on floral images.Time
The photo was taken around midday. If i'm honest, I had been up since the early hours photographing different objects and I had just returned from a photo walk over Wigg Island.Lighting
All lighting was natural, using sunlight pouring through my kitchen window.Equipment
This photograph was taken using a Fuji HS30EXR in super macro mode with a Neewer macro extension added to the lens. The camera was on a tripod and I used a remote shutter switch. The macro extension gave a nice vignette, and narrowed the focal point, helping to accentuate the middle of the image, which is very much where I was focussed.Inspiration
When I had a close look at the centre of this flower and when I looked at the shape of the petals, I knew with the right light, this would make a beautiful photograph. I tried several times before I was finally happy with the end result. It's a simple image, and the natural beauty of the flower shines through.Editing
Minimal post processing, the image was shot in RAW format and converted in Lightroom. No colour or saturation alterations were made.In my camera bag
These days i always carry my Nikkor 35mm f1.8 prime lens with me, it is a peach of a lens and sharp as a tack! I still pack and use my fuji HS30EXR. Another must is my little Fuji X10, an amazing little camera which i predominantly use for black & white photography. Other items in my bag include a Nikon D3200 and a Kodak Retinette 1A, along with various ND and grad filters.Feedback
My advice for anyone attempting similar photography is be patient, you will make mistakes but when you get it right it's such an amazing feeling. A tripod and remote shutter switch is a must ( in my opinion ).
