Location
This photo was taken in a antique shop (not sure it is in business any longer) that was kind enough to allow us to shoot there, located in the Old Town area of San Diego, CA. The shoot was part of a promotional shoot for an up and coming musician and artist by the name of Tara Nicole.Time
The shoot took place around noon time frame. That time of day had the least amount of foot traffic within the store so it was an appropriate time for a shoot.Lighting
The lighting consisted of a single soft box along with natural lighting coming in through the front windows.Equipment
Camera was a hand held D800 along with a 70-210mm zoom lens and a 32" soft box.Inspiration
The setting, along with the natural state of the model led itself to this shot. She was well in her element and the whole shoot just naturally flowed together. Overall it was a very relaxed, and fun shoot.Editing
I have used Adobe Lightroom software for post processing. Mainly to bring out and emphasis the rich colors that were present in the shot.In my camera bag
My typical equipment consists of the Nikon D800 frame, three lenses (24-70mm f2.8, 70-210mm f2.8, and most recently a 150-600mm f5-6.3), SB900 Speed flash, a portable battery pack for flash backup, and for shoots like this a 32" softbox powered by a Genesis 300 flash.Feedback
The main element for capturing a shot like this is the rapport that is built with the model. When the two of you are at ease with one another creative thoughts start to develop and magic happens. Always look for other angles that you could try to capture and have your finger ready on the trigger to capture shots as they develop and transform. I personally love the spontaneous shots and less aim for the classical posed looks. That is where the real spirit of the model comes to life.
