Location
In February this year 2014. My very first shot with my very first DSLR camera.Time
This was after work and I was on an early shift that day so at around 4pm.Lighting
The sun wasn't quite low enough to get the model from directly behind, but as luck would have it this is the first dog walker I encountered and they were under a bridge which was also casting shadow on the scene. The metering mode I used was pattern and I kept the ISO at 100Equipment
Camera: Canon EOS1100D, Canon kit lens 70-200mm, Aperture f11, ISO 100 and a Focal Length of 70mm.Inspiration
I had a an assignment, a group of work colleagues and I had formed a small group of photo enthusiasts. We began to set weekly assignments for practice with our DSLR camera settings. The first shot was to be a silhouette. I think this shot nailed it.Editing
There was a lot of glare from the water and the image was overexposed, I turned it down a notch or two with generic software that came with the camera and turned up the saturation slightly so that the refkection of the trees on the water popped a little with color. This also highlighted the dogs coat, the grass and the walkers shoes. In my camera bag
I carry a backpack. I have two entry level bodies Canon EOS 1100D & EOS 600D. Three cheaper type lenses: a Canon kit lens 18-55mm, Canon Zoom Lens 70-200mm and a portrait prime lens Canon 85mm 1:1.8. I have a packet of cheap ND filters 2-8, a central polarizing filter and each lens has a UV filter mainly for scratch protection. I have a Speedlite from Yongnuo YN560-II, a remote trigger, spare batteries and I always carry an entry level aluminium tripod.Feedback
Experimental shots are often the best. If you have a particular type of shot in mind it's a good thing to read up on technique a day or two before hand.
