I titled this Concert and Photographer's Right because I cannot forget that I was stopped to take photo of this event. The concert happened on March 9, 2012. We bought tickets on this concert then in the ticket did not say about audience are prohibited to take photo. Me and my husband passed the checking of the security guards. We went inside bringing my cameras. The concert started then and i took few photos but after 20 minutes I was confronted with one of the security guards to not to take photo. I told them that I am from Photo World Magazine and I show to them my Identification Card. The discussion was dragged and when the discussion was over the concert was almost over too. Now, my question is, are photographers really prohibited to take photos in the concert? If yes, why? Anyway, it was Don Williams Concert at the Casino Hotel in Walker, Minnesota, USA.

Usually named bands like to control photographic access and limit photographers to a photography pit in the front of the stage for the first 3 songs or twenty minutes, (whichever is shorter it seems). I'd never use flash during a live performance because it is distracting for the band and the other audience members. Generally speaking if you're using flash and/or shooting beyond the 20 minute period you are breaking unwritten Concert Photography Etiquette. This is a very good key establishment shot!

Albert, I never used flash to tell you. Until now I don't know how to use flash but I want to explore it. So I planned to buy one. Maybe I need to study more about flash photography. How are you going to use flash in fact your flash is useless because you are quite too far in the stage? Flash is good when you are near in your subject might be....but if you are in distance I don't think it will do good. They want me to deposit my gear, I asked them for the receipt. They cannot give and even the manager does not want to take charge because according to him, "No, I don't want to get involved. She has 20K USD worth of camera and lenses there. I don't want to take charge!" These were his words. So my husband and I ask for a written information if they can show us that photographers are not allowed, and they weren't able to show us. So what was all about? I did not even take a video I just want to take still photos. I already did. Might be this invoke an assertion of the photographers' rights. Who will record the events and happening if we photographers are being hindered to do so?

Interesting topic, if the band is in a public place and you do not use flash why are they restrictive with taking photos. This is an excellent photo and very hard to do with all the contrasts. voted
