Dripping Spring

In this canyon the Dripping Spring is located. Dripping Spring Resort was originally built by Coronel Eugene Van Patten in the 1870's. Dripping Spring was originally called "Van Patten's Mountain Camp." In 1917 Van Patten encountered financial problem and went into bankrupt and Dripping Spring was sold to Dr. Nathan Boyd. It was converted later into a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients and it was sold out to Dr. Sexton who continuously operate the sanatorium. However, some group of local citizens decided to raise $4,000 and purchase it for historic preservation but they failed to do it. The ruins of the dripping spring still there showing us the memory of Coronel Van Patten, doctors Boyd and Sexton.
