Taking pictures of wildlife is very rewarding if you get that perfect picture after hours of waiting. I live close to Nagano and always wanted to take pictures of these famous monkeys (they got featured a few times in the BBC earth documentaries) For a place like this it took some research online to figure out the best time to visit. A famous place with easy acces like this is always crowded with tourists. By checking the parks webcam I figured that the best time to avoid the crowd would be early in the morning. During the shoot I was able to get very close to the monkeys without any zoom lens. (that would change during the day when the Onsen is packed with people and you need a zoom to get pass the crowd to see the monkeys) I tried to focus on the eyes because these young monkeys were so adorable.Editing

If you take picture of wildlife the most important part is a lot of patience. I spend hours just study the animals and have my camera ready on 'continuous silent shooting mode' to take as many picture as possible. If you have the chance to visit the place more than once the better, because if you are familiar with the location and the behavior of the animals you might take better pictures. I recommend to start very early in the morning or evening (golden hour) when the animals are most active and the light conditions are the best. Don't forget to bring the right clothes and a spare battery!!
