Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Stockholm, Sweden on a night photo walk in winter

Time

It was taken at night. It was freezing outside and after a stroll trough the city I decided to go back to the hotel and get my camera. I spend a few hours outside taking pictures around Stockholm

Lighting

It was just a nice spot to take the picture with all the lights reflecting in the water

Equipment

Canon 5D MIII a canon EF 24-105 lens, Manfrotto Tripod and a hähnel capture remote control

Inspiration

When I was wandering around the city, freezing off my hands while trying to capture the essence of the city like I read about it in the ‘girl with the dragon tattoo series. Many people took similar pictures from the same place I was standing but the best thing was that I was the only Person there. It looked beautiful from far away but once you get into the heart of it you will uncover it’s dark secrets

Editing

I did some post processing in Adobe LR. I adjusted the color temperature, did some noise reduction and straighten/cropping. I played with exposure and contrast and tried to make the lights ‘pop’ out a little more. I also smoother the water by using the ‘soften skin’ filter

In my camera bag

My canon 5D MIII body a EF 24-105 and a zoom-lens EF 70-200, Flash, hähnel capture, a spare battery, some SD & Flash cards and a pen and memo

Feedback

Even if you are tired after a hard day of work or shooting it is always worth to go that extra mile. I used a tripod and a remote shutter control to keep my hands in the pocket because Of the cold. I took many pictures with different settings some worked some not.
