Location
I took this photo near Clark Fork, Idaho.Time
This photo was shot in the afternoon, about 4:00 pm.Lighting
It was early summer and we were in the middle of fire season. The smoke had drifted over the sun.Equipment
Nikon D5100, Nikkor 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
Well the way the orange and red of the smoke over the sun was reflecting off the water begged me to stop for a few shots. I like the way the shape of the clouds is mirrored in the shape of the river.Editing
I am a purist and do very little processing. In this photo, I did a little cropping, bumped up the highlights and that is about it.In my camera bag
Body, wide angle and telephoto lenses, cleaning kit, extra battery, sd card, owners manual, wrench for my tripod, business cards, plastic rain poncho for my camera.Feedback
Look for a great spot to photograph over water when there is a lot of smoke in the air. Photograph during late afternoon and when the clouds are interesting.
