I like to 'experiment' with spider web images in general. What angles can I get, how does the light affect my perspective and how can I make it look a bit different from the last 178 images I took? Sometimes this means getting underneath them and other times right on top of them.

In this particular case, I was a fair distance away with the morning sun just beginning to shine as it rose over the tree line, casting this web in early morning sun while leaving the background a dark shadow. Also, this tends to be the time spiders are most busy working on their webs or sitting in them waiting for some hapless insect to come calling.

The sun highlighted the micro-droplets that formed on the web over night, making the web strands just glisten in the light, while it sort of 'shone through' the spider sitting in the web's center, making it stand out as well.

Enjoy!
