These are the Ozarks. The fog is in the Buffalo River valley. I did replace the sky with another that I made myself. It is reflected on the top of the fog clouds, thus a reflection on of a reflection. I liked the colored cloud tops better than a white fog. I counted 10 layers when done. The image is a composite of only 3 images.

Location
I live about 30 minutes from Ponca, Arkansas, and often rent a cabin there in order to visit with my family. It is a beautiful place, and this photo captures much of the experience.Time
This was shot in the morning. The sunrise often reveals the fog in the valley. I composited three images for this: Two of the valleys were put together in a panorama, and a third image of a sky that I made replaced the sky in the composite. The sun was off to the left of the image.Lighting
I used ON1 2024 Max to post process this image. I didn't like the contrast in the image directly from the camera. The reflections of the sky on the clouds are completely artificial.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3300 with a zoom lens set at ISO 200, 1/400 f8.Inspiration
The fog in the valley is the inspiration for this photo. I wanted to see what I could do with it.Editing
As I said before, ON1 Raw 2022 Max is my only tool for post-processing. I've learned a great deal from using it. This image would not have been possible without it. One could think of it as an abstract image due to the extensive use of tools available from ON1.In my camera bag
I've used cameras all of my life, but I normally never carry a bag. One cannot take images with the bag or the equipment inside it, and fiddling with the equipment is a useless process that takes a lot of time. I still miss images fooling with the settings on the camera. You must have a camera ready if you wish to capture a photo.Feedback
One would have to travel to Arkansas to get this image. I just happened to be there. I am 80 years old and have much experience using cameras. Best advice is to take lots of pictures and get involved with the processing of them. Forget about making money, photography is an art. If you are any good, the money will come. I haven't seen much of it. I've had many jobs. I work as an educator, trained in music, and photography is my entertainment. Live a full life and enjoy it.
