I took this photo at the Zoo in Zagreb, Croatia. The Dalmatian pelican (Pelecanus crispus) is the largest member of the pelican family, and perhaps the world's largest fresh water bird, although rivaled in weight and length by the largest swans. It is a massive pelican with a disheveled appearance. with dirty white overall feathers with a scruffy, upswept crest and black primaries (prominent only in flight). These animals are in danger of extinction, due to the destruction and modification of their natural habitat.
