This limpkin stood calmly preening himself and eating while I drifted perhaps 15 feet away in my canoe. The water was mirror flat, and the early dawn light was peeking through the tree branches and Spanish moss above. For almost 30 minutes, we shared the peace and beauty of Caddo Lake.
