The Galah Cockatoo is a parrot native to Australia which also goes by the name of the Rose Breasted Cockatoo. These social birds are part of the Cacatuidae family of birds and usually live in flocks and will bond as a pair for life.
The galah ( Eolophus roseicapilla), less commonly known as the pink and grey cockatoo or rose-breasted cockatoo, is an Australian species of cockatoo and the only member of the genus Eolophus. The galah is one of Australia's most abundant and widespread bird species. The species is endemic to mainland Australia.
The Galah is a very clever bird which can learn to talk, or rather, imitate people's voices. The male Galah seems to be much better at this than the female. The birds can also impersonate everyday sounds such as a whistle, a horn or a telephone ringing.
In the wild a Galah will rarely live past 25 years, but in captivity, if well looked after a Galah can live for 40+ years — so you will have a friend for life.
