Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo by a pond way earlier in the spring than I expected to see any reptiles out. It was still a bit chilly so when I saw one sunning itself I took a few pictures and walked away. When I came back there was a second snake there too.

Time

It was maybe before noon on April 2nd 2022

Lighting

It was just coming through the trees a little bit since it was a bit overcast.

Equipment

This is one of the last photos I took with my Canon Rebel t5, I used a 75-300mm telephoto lens. Shutter speed was 1/160, f/5.6 and ISO 100

Inspiration

I love reptiles especially snakes and these 2 just let me do my thing without question.

Editing

I did, I shot it in color and wanted to see what it would look like in black and white with some additional sharpening. Overall very pleased with the outcome.

In my camera bag

Just a camera and a couple of lenses, I also had a 50 and 100mm macro lens in there

Feedback

Patience that was all it was other than right spot at the right time.
