Location
Bidston Windmill, Is a local landmark on the Wirral Peninsula, UK, where I lived for many years before moving home to Australia.Time
A bright sunny morning is often a great time to shoot infrared images.Lighting
The direction of the sun helped model the windmill's shape. Strong sunlight is always helpfully in infrared photography.Equipment
This was captured on a Canon DSLR converted to shoot in IR720nms wavelength without need for external filters. The IR screen is removed from the sensor and replaced with an internal IR filter.Inspiration
Bidston windmill is a beautiful local landmark with some importance in local history of the areaEditing
Post processing IR imagery is one of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of this photographic discipline. Colour channel adjustments were the main elements in processing this image. In my camera bag
I travel full time and carry minimal equipment. Two DSLRs, one IR converted the other factory standard. I also travel with a GoPro. Travel tripods and a couple of lenses.Feedback
Infrared photography is an absorbing and addictive photographic technique. Try using screw on filters as a relatively cheap way to try it out. IR 720 work best for most people's taste.
