Location
This photograph was captured in my home studio using two continuous lights. The flowers are sitting on a 12x12-inch black acrylic panel.Time
Especially if you're not using strobes indoors, it's important to photograph near large sources of natural light in the afternoon. Make the Studio as bright as possible with diffused sunlight.Lighting
I used two continuous lights near a sliding glass door to add more light to the scene. If you use this setup, make sure your artificial lights are Daylight temperature to match the natural light from the sun.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark II with 24-105mm standard lens. I find that adjusting the Composition of a shot is a lot faster without a tripod.Inspiration
I look for new ways to capture familiar Subjects. I've always been interested in having a nice reflection of the Subject in my Work. Changing my approach. Trying something new. It's all an experiment that hopefully leads to discovery.Editing
I made the initial Adjustments to Lighting in Adobe Camera RAW before bringing the capture into PhotoShop. The Dodge & Burn Tools were used to further adjust the Lighting. I wanted more emphasis on the reflection while making sure the Highlights popped. In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mark II. 24-105mm lens. Tripod. Wireless Remote. Lens filters. An extra camera battery and Memory Card.Feedback
Think outside of the box. Change your approach. Determine the Style of Photograph you want to capture. Once the initial Concept for the Shoot is captured, follow the rabbit hole to stumble upon other possibilities.
