Behind The Lens
Location
This shot was taken in my awesome studio, situated in a former '30s school.Time
this was taken in with studio flashes, so time of day is irrelevant.Lighting
I used one flash; Godox QT400 II with a 70cm silver beauty dish, plus grid. Fitted on a boom stand so its easier to shoot below it.Equipment
This portrait was shot on a Sony A7RIII with a Zeiss 55mm ƒ 1.8 @ƒ2.8. camara was mounted on a old and heavy Linhof studio tripod.Inspiration
Before the portraitshoot i always make a inspirationboard on pinterest, just for poses and lighting.Editing
I shoot tethered in Capture One Pro so i and my sitter have a better look at te results. After the shoot i tweak it to my taste and use colorgrading and color harmonies to get a more stylistic and filmic look. Those first steps are all done in Capture One. A second step is done in Photoshop. Dodge and burning to brighten up the eyes a bit and lower the brightness on the ears - the're mostly to bright for my taste. Some removing of skin imperfections, dust and flying hairs. When this is done i make a merged layer of al the edits and convert it to a black-white with Silver Efex Pro from NIK filters. This layer wil be blended in overlay mode and the opacity wil be around 25-30% to give it a more contrasty look.In my camera bag
My A7RIII and A7C for backup. It really depends on the job what lenses i bring. I have a Zeiss 55mm ƒ1.8, Sony 85mm ƒ1.8, Zeiss 16-35mm ƒ4.0, Tamron 28-75mm ƒ2.8 and some Olympus OM prime lenses that i love to use with the A7C.Feedback
Just go try it yourself, i revealed a lot in the questions above ;-)
