I captured a photo of Do & Co Hotel Vienna, Austria. The windows show reflections of St Stephen's Cathedral. Little info: In the shimmering, postmodern Haas Haus, Do & Co makes a spectacular leap between old and new Vienna, with front-row views of St Stephen's Cathedral, a happening lounge-bar gazing out over the city, urban-chic design, flawless service and phenomenal food. It's an all-round class act.
Just wow, with dress-circle views of the historic centre's main square, Stephansplatz, and its crowing glory Gothic cathedral, the spire of which feels close enough to reach out and touch. From the restaurant and lounge, Vienna opens up like a pop-up book. You couldn't be more central than this, less than a 10-minute walk from trophy sights like the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Albertina, the art-packed Museums Quartier, and the much-feted concert halls, coffee houses and theatres of the monumental Ringstrasse boulevard. Stephansplatz tube station (lines U1, U3) is linked to the building by an outside lift, so you can be at the main train station within minutes.
Do & Co lodges in the eye-catching, one-of-a-kind Haas Haus, designed by Pritzker-prize winning architect Hans Hollein in 1990. The glass façade reflects St Stephen's Cathedral and stands in stark contrast to the traditional architecture surrounding it. The luxe interiors are contemporary and curvaceous, with dark, sexy corridors, subtle lighting, and lots of hammered silver, glass, leather, onyx and polished teak. Best of all are the floor-to-ceiling windows that play up the incredible wraparound views of the city. A lift whisks you up to the small reception area on the sixth floor.
