Behind The Lens

Location

My garden is located right behind my back porch. I grew this flower from a single seed that I had harvested the year before. I start all of my seeds in a hydroponic system.

Time

Sunday, August 6, 2023 around 12:30 in the afternoon.

Lighting

Bright sun in the summer was the best.

Equipment

My camera is a Nikon Coolpix p900. It is an incredible camera. I had rested the camera on the railing of my porch, so no tripod used. No flash needed, the summer sun gave the best lighting!

Inspiration

I spent A LOT of time on my back porch this summer, watching all of the winged creatures that visited my vegetable garden. I grow a lot of different vegetables, including 4 kinds of hot peppers, 4 kinds of tomatoes, zucchini, strawberries, cabbage and much more! I have 2 zinnias in there, this yellow one and a red one. The butterflies really loved the yellow zinnia and spent hours and hours on it each day. The hummingbirds seemed to prefer the red zinnia to this yellow one!

Editing

I do not do any editing of my photos.

In my camera bag

Mainly just my camera. The lens is not detachable. I used to carry my tripod but it has become a bit of a burden to set up, so I will be investing in a unipod.

Feedback

Be patient!! I spent countless hours on my back porch, taking hundreds of photos. Also, plant zinnia flowers! I guarantee that many butterflies and hummingbirds will be visiting quite often!
