The D-day beach of Arromanches les Bains is sandwiched between the green fields and the white chalk cliffs. A peaceful sight with the quiet village behind it. On that same beach and in the water off the coast, where the Allies landed on June 6, 1944, the traces of the Second World War are still visible. The pontoons that served as a bridge between the ships and the beach at the time are still there. The contrast between the tranquility and beauty of this bay and the harsh reality of the past makes this one of the most impressive beaches.
