Behind The Lens

Location

I took this Photo in Winnall Moors Nature Reserve. Winchester.

Time

This photo was taken at 14:16 on the Sunday 11th of June 2023.

Lighting

I was spending the day in the Nature Reserve hoping to get some pictures of Dragonflies and Butterflies when this cheeky Roe deer popped his head up from feeding and stuck his tongue out at me.

Equipment

I was hand held with camera on a monopod. My camera is a Canon 7D MKII and I was using a EF 100-400 f4.5L is usm mk1 lens. My settings were 1/1250 f5.6 at 400mm.ISO 400. 0ev.

Inspiration

This was a quick decision as not expecting to any Roe deer in the reed beds. As I saw him lift his head and look at me. I quickly turned my camera and zoomed in. As I took a few shots he stuck his tongue out and carried on eating regardless of me.

Editing

I have made so small adjustments in Lightroom to this picture and then exported it as a jpeg to my iCloud Photos.

In my camera bag

In my camera bag I carry a sigma 105 macro lens. A Sigma 18-35, Art lens and the above EF 100-400 lens. Various filters and a monopod to help with the weight when keeping still for the shot.

Feedback

Always expect the unexpected. Have some saved settings on your camera so you can quickly change to suit what comes at you. Take lots of shots and have fun.
