This lighthouse is also called Lighthouse of Fort of Calette. It was built in 1919 on north-western end of the Almohad wall and is still active today. It warns the ships and boats coming towards the shore. Rabat became the capital under the reign of Sultan Moulay Youssef, seven years into the establishment of the French protectorate in Morocco. It overlooks the Atlantic from a cliff on the Sirat bastion. It is a strong, tall, round, white structure standing on top of sandstone walls.

joviaal, I love this photo as much as i do your description. It totally amazes me that it has been, and still is a working light house after all these years. Thank you for sharing this special scene.

Love the variety of shapes in this photo and the lighthouse looking over all of them.
