Location
Rheims Cathedral. in Rheims, France.Time
Around noon.Lighting
I chose to shoot from the side of the shadow, to allow contrast between the two sides of the angel's face; since the sun was hitting at the angel's right eye, shooting from that angle was blinding and would have burned the picture.Equipment
Canon 6D, 24-105mm Art lens by Sigma, UV lens.Inspiration
The angel's smile.Editing
The photo was transformed to Black and White, and checked in PS but without much changes. In my camera bag
Canon 6D, two lenses, 50 and 24-105, both Art series by Sigma; Sony A 500 with some Sony lenses.Feedback
Shoot, smile and move on. Use your digital camera as if it were a film camera, i.e., shoot a limited number of shots, one or two, not a few dozen od the same object, and wait until your are back home to check your day's work. In the present case, I decided to focus on, and capture, the angel's smile. The rest of the picture provides contextual information about the statue.
