In our old rowan tree, facing the kitchen window, there was a natural hole, big enough for blue tits nesting but too small for squirrels shelter. Here, one of the parent is feeding the chicks inside the hole. Each one their turn were flying in and out of the nest to feed hungry chicken. We could witness dad blue tit, and worn out mom with all kind of insects and worms for the kids, which were flying in and out of the rowan tree hole. Quite a non-stop show. The incessant round trips lasted a few weeks before we could see the first little head and beak of a want -to- be fledgling pointing out of the hole. That is priceless.
