This sandhill crane pair were casually feeding at our ground-level bird feeder. When a pair of young raccoons approached the feeder to get a bite to eat, the cranes raised thier wings to show how big thry were to intimidate the raccoons. They even moved thier long pointed beaks towards them and that was all it took for the raccoons to quickly retreat to the nearby flower garden where they lived. No injuries were sustained during this confrontation.
