Early afternoon from memory but I don't recall the exact time.

Lighting

It was bright sunshine.

Equipment

Nikon D70s with a 56-200mm Sigma zoom handheld.

Inspiration

I really wanted to capture the excitement the surfer was obviously feeling. I was feeling it too.

Editing

I use Nikon Capture NX2 to process my Raw files and was able to bring out more detail in the highlights that I was concerned might have been lost.

In my camera bag

These days I still use my trusty old Nikon D5000. With the kit lens that came with it. I've added to this a Tamron 70-300mm zoom and a Nikon 35mm prime lens. I also have a couple of ND filters that I use mostly for landscape.

Feedback

With hindsight I would have used a lower ISO say 200. I had the ISO set at 400 from earlier in the day when it was cloudy and dull and didn't think to change it in the excitement of the moment. But thinking about it if I had stopped to alter the ISO then the moment I captured here would probably have been missed.
