Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photograph from our garden. I usually take photographs of changes brought about by the seasons as this creates a portfolio of nature.

Time

I shot the photograph during May. One of the reasons is the transition from April to May then to June where I am can be quite dramatic. Flowers in bloom also enjoy a short life span before spoilage takes their beauty and elegance away.

Lighting

All outside pictures take skill in catching the correct lighting for the style and effect you want from the photograph. Sunlight the main source of lighting during the day, also called natural lighting, as lighting changes from day to day and you may need to think carefully before you take a shot and choose another time of day as the time of day you are in at present may not afford a good photograph.

Equipment

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Inspiration

The beauty of the flower inspired me to take the photograph.

Editing

Just basic post processing as the camera captured the flower in its beauty.

In my camera bag

Usually, I always have my phone on me for photographs as they have improved over the years. However, when on a shoot I bring several prime lenses and a tripod. When travelling my equipment includes zoom lenses as I never know when going to a new place for the first time what I may want to shoot. Quality is important when choosing a zoom lens as you want it to take excellent photographs of all ranges and exposures. The camera megapixels can be important too. It is easier to downsize a quality photograph than upsize it without pixelating the image, although software continues to improve in resizing photographs.

Feedback

Keep your eyes open. Flowers have a short life in bloom, and you must be ready for that moment when they are at their prime.
