Behind The Lens

Location

A pair of barred owls brought their young owlets to our backyard to hunt for food. Barred owlets stay with their parents for 8 months.

Time

Evening

Lighting

Low light at evening can be a challenge. Luckily, the owlets were pretty still so I could use a slow shutter speed and high iSO.

Equipment

Canon 5D Mark 4 with 100-400 mm lens, hand held, no flash.

Inspiration

Owlets are adorable! Barred owlets however make terrible noises calling to their parents.

Editing

I used Lightroom to develop this photo.

In my camera bag

A variety of lenses, wide angle to telephoto. I always have extra batteries, cards, lens cleaners.
