I loved the closeup of the flower center and how it seems to form a wave.

Location
In Ocala, we have a local city park that was created with a donation of land from a resident from long ago. Sholom Park is a fan favorite - the plantings are varied and mature and with the addition of a pond, there is a plethora of birds and other wildlife.Time
I signed up for a community photowalk that started at 7 am. No one else showed up so it was just me and the photo walk leader. At that hour we almost had the whole park to ourselves. This was captured just before the 8 am hour.Lighting
I know Florida is the Sunshine State but our cloud formations are beautiful! The soft lighting was caused by those beautiful clouds creating a really nice diffusion of light. When I saw the camellia, I thought the center was perfectly lit.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D850 with a Nikon 18-200 mm lens. I don't have a macro lens so when I want that close up, I am shooting at 200mm. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I really loved the crinkly petals of the just blossomed flower but the packed stamen reminded me of a wave or even gathered hair in a ponytail. It's unusual to see the stamen still so tightly packed around the pistil as this happens for such a limited time after the flower has bloomed.Editing
I tuned the picture in ACR, cropped and sharpened. In my camera bag
I probably carry a lot less in my backpack in the way of equipment than I used to. I attribute that to the weight of the Nikon D850. Along with the camera body, I have my Nikon 18-200mm lens, an extra battery, lens cleaning cloth, a first generation LensBaby, a B&W ND filter and a tripod. I have a wheeled carryon bag that will hold an extra body and 3 more lenses, memory cards and marketing collateral but I haven't been using that for quite some time.Feedback
Be up early to catch the blue hour before sunrise and keep your eyes open for all the natural beauty along the way to your desired destination. Walk slowly and take in not only the sights but the smells of an early morning in nature.
