Behind The Lens

Location

Steamer Lane, Santa Cruz Ca.

Time

Late afternoon as the sunset was mixing with the fog and clouds.

Lighting

What I love about the coast is the never ending combination of clouds, fog, and sunshine. Sunsets become a precious moment as the light slips away within minutes after waiting for what feels like an hour or so.

Equipment

Canon 7D Mark II, 70-200 mm 2.8 lens

Inspiration

In between surf, waves and the landscape, the only way out to surf the lane is off the point. Which just happens to be in direct correlation to the evening sunset. Patience is the word...

Editing

I shoot raw and usually drop my “finished shot” into Luminar and tweak a bit more with Luminar Flex.

In my camera bag

I don’t carry a bag... my camera with 70-200 lens and iPhone 11XS will get everything you need 99% of the time.

Feedback

The most important aspect of my photography is two fold - 1.) Be patient ...the moment will come. 2.) Know your capabilities ( camera, iso, shutter...etc) and shoot with intent and experience. Oh... and have....FUN!
