Behind The Lens

Location

I took it in Hjo, Sweden. My mother lives there with her husband, a great town with absolutely great nature. I love to take pictures of nature, you can't controll it just be sure you make the best of it.

Time

Around 8pm (evening), I just look up the stream and saw this magic light and the stream was softly rippling, almost sounded as a great melody in the quite woods, it was like a dream, just to hear one sound instead of all the city noise with cars and people shouting. With this image I want to bring a calm feeling, I want to share the great nature and what it is capable to create, like sounds, feelings, smell etc etc. Thank you Mother Earth !

Lighting

The light was like a fairy tale, so soft and warm. In this picture I wanted to show the sun light and the stream, the stream lead your eyes up to the light as a final touch of peace, everything was just perfect at this moment.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D61p with a ND10 filter, a tripod and a remote controll and my Tamron 24-70 f2.8 lens

Inspiration

I always loved long exposure, so when I saw this scene I just went "WOW!" and said to my company that they should hold up, I crawled behind some bushes, set my camera on the tripod and aim it kind of low just to get this leading lines to the light. All the colors and the small stream, I saw a great scene. I have no regret that I took this picture, when I still watch it I can really feel the same feelings I had that exact moment

Editing

It was not that much really, just made the colors pop a bit more and not to much, made a bit of framing so the light would pop a bit more and make sure to get that in focus with the stream.

In my camera bag

Nikon D610 Tamron 70-200 f2.8 Tamron 24-70 f2.8 Nikon 200-500 f5.6

Feedback

If you go to Sweden be sure you visit the nature, it is open to everyone, no one owns it. Just dont throw trash in it ;) ! Never be afraid of failing, that is the biggest obstacle, we learn by our mistakes. I have tons of picture that is a so called "failure". First of all, what does the scene tell you and what do you want others to feel looking at it? When you know what you want to tell it makes it easier, you have your picture in your head, just go for it ! Dont be afraid !! To take a picture like this, you dont need to be a professional photographer, Im not a professional. This is a long exposure of 30 seconds, use a tripod to make sure you dont get a blurry picture. Shoot at a high number of f-stop (F-stop = focal lenght" so you get as much of the scenery as sharp as you can, use something in the foreground as I did with the bushes, make sure that the viewers see what you see with example leading lines composition as I did. Good luck and have fun :) !
