This photo was taken at Tumalo Falls outside of Bend Oregon

Time

This was a great day, my husband and I had driven to visit Bend, oregon as we had heard that were great areas to hike and a friend had told us about the falls. We got there about 8 in the morning and hiked to the falls. What a view! Was able to hike to an area so I could take this shot, and was able to get the entire falls and the surrounding view.

Lighting

This was the first time at the falls, when i took this shot I wanted to be able to capture the strength of the rock that the water poured over. To me the senses can be captured in a picture if it's taken right. You can smell the trees, feel the coolness of the day, taste the briskness of a fall morning in the air.

Equipment

This was shot with a canon B500. I had my tripod but had left it in the car so I was balancing the camera on a tree stump.

Inspiration

I love photographing nature in all its forms. Waterfalls and trees seem to be what I gravitate to. I want to be able to share what i see with the one who is looking at the photo. Being able to see something for the first time and getting a shot that is visually inspiring to me is what I try to capture. Every shot has a personal memory for me. My husband and I love to hike and love nature and we both had never been here before.

Editing

I am still very new to photography. So just being able to take a picture and look at it and feel good about it, is a great first step for me. As I progress into the details of photography, I am pretty sure I will be able to utilize those tools that will help make my photos more professional.

In my camera bag

Right now a cannon B500 and my tripod. Being an amateur photographer I am so very basic in what I have with me. As I grow in my love of photography and the pictures I take, my equipment will grow with me. I believe starting small and working your way up comes with time, love and patience. Taking a photo takes a lot more than expensive equipment. You have to have the basics before moving up in level.

Feedback

Go with it. Everyone can look at the same object and view it differently. If you are just starting out like I am, don't be afraid to take photos. Think of the lighting, shading, position of the object in question. Then take multiple views. Sometimes it works and you might get that perfect shot out of 100. The important thing is be proud of whatever picture you take. It's still a winner, you took it and it is a representation of what you are seeing right then and now.
